The Veterans Sports Workshops are finally here! Saturday 18th September 2010 is the date, Chelmsford Sport and Athletics Centre, Salerno Way the venue. Ten instructor led, beginner sports workshops are planned, all aimed at getting you to try out something a little less ordinary!

Some of the activity names might ‘throw’ you, so see below for descriptions!

 

  • Bowls - As it says, Bowls - just the Short Mat version
  • Throws - This session will give you the opportunity to learn basic skills in athletic throwing events, think discus, javelin and shot putt
  • Otago - A form of seated exercise which promotes balance and mobility
  • Trampolining - Using the full size trampolines!
  • Croquet - With a mallet in hand, see if you can steer the balls through the hoops
  • Sprints - General running including technique and how to start your sprint
  • Table Tennis - playing singles, 2 people per table (we can pair you up!)
  • Boccia - think bowls but sitting down, just as much technique and skill is involved with a varied twist on how to reach the jack
  • Netball - Gents, you’re welcome too!
  • Jumps - high jump, long jump and triple jump

 

 

How to book

Spaces are allocated on a first come, first served basis. To book your workshops, please print off and complete the attached booking form, tick the sessions you would like to attend and return with full payment of £6 to Sports Development, Chelmsford Borough Council, Duke Street, Chelmsford, Essex CM1 1JE. Alternatively visit www.chelmsford.gov.uk/vetsgames where you will be able to download a booking form, or call Sports Development on 01245 606569 and request one via post.

 

The cost for the day is £6 per person, for this amount you are able to take as many workshops as you wish, up to a maximum of 5 (one per hour).
